Dan,

It wasn't terribly cold here the last few days but the hippo hands seem to work great on my DL650K5. I also installed grip heaters from symtec. With just light gloves on I can ride very comfortably at around 40degF. Almost too warm. I'm sure my hands would be comfortable down to 20 degF with this setup. Maybe less.

My only wish is that the HH were somehow more areodynamic. I can definitely feel them on the highway, particularly in truck wakes.

Thanks much.

Finally was able to take about an hour ride day with the new Hippo Hands. Temp was 37 degrees F. Wore summer gauntlets the whole time and my hands didn't even get chilly.  In response to a couple of comments . . . nope, they don't look like the "old fashioned" hippo hands I had 25 years ago, and they don't come up nearly as far on my arm. The top of my gauntlets are outside the hippo hand. They do fit very comfortably over the controls on both bars and, at least for me, did not interfere in any way with the operation of the bike. I was able to change volume on the radio, or search for stations with no problem. Didn't try the CB as there was no one to talk to but I'm sure there will be no problem there. Used cruise control and again had no problem using the controls other than my 61 year old memory trying to remember which button sets/accelerates/decelerates. Not the hippo hand's fault! ! !  None of us knows too many of the others on this board so all I can say is this. For me the hippo hands are making me feel like I just got the greatest Christmas present ever! They keep my hands warm, and I feel certain will keep them dry. I recommend them very highly -- well worth the expense.  I'm smiling' Karl.

Hi Dan, The other set of Hippo Hands arrived Wednesday. BRAVO!!!! The extra part was just what I needed. I had a chance to give them a try on the 70 miles one way to work at 4AM this morning. It wasn't cold at 38f but cool enough to try them out to see how they worked. In my opinion they couldn't work any better. They are GREAT!! With no gloves they kept my hands from getting any colder than the outside temp. No wind chill and no drafts/leaks from the front or mounting points. I did finally pull over and put on my thin "mechanics gloves" and that was all I needed. They couldn't have arrived at a better time for me as my grip heaters quit working last night. It is SO NICE to now be able to move my hands in and out of the Hippo Hands while going down the hiway instead of being stuck in the other brand ones. There are 10 other riders at work and I made sure to show the Hippo Hands off to every one of them and tell them how great they are. I will be sure and pass the word on your great product and especially your great service. Although I wasn't happy with the first set, I did tell you I didn't want to return them and could probably make them work so the "sale" was a done deal. You didn't have to bend over backwards to make me happy but you most certainly did and that is almost unheard of now days. I will try to borrow a digital camera this weekend and take some pic.s for you. Thanks again Dan, You are the BEST!!  , Mike Meador
